Mardouw congratulates the new Executive Mayor for the Langeberg Municipality, Alderman Schalk van Eeden
Mardouw Olive Estate’s history goes back many years, its roots loosely intertwining with Alderman van Eeden’s, who was born and bred at Mardouw. After the Verder family from Antwerp, Belgium purchased the farm from the van Eeden family in 2002, Mr. van Eeden stayed on for many years, juggling his engagements in Langeberg politics with the position of farm manager at Mardouw. When the farm was transformed from a wine farm into an olive farm, and 15 hectares of grapes were replaced by 50,000 olive trees, Mr. van Eeden gradually decreased his involvement with Mardouw’s farming operations, and after 10 years eventually decided to step down as Mardouw farm manager to make more time available for his devotion to local politics.
The entire Mardouw team wishes Alderman van Eeden good luck in his new position.
